Partnering for Global Goals Achievement in Sudan: Sweden and UNDP Discuss ways to Promote Sustainable Human Development in Sudan

H.E. Ambassador to Sweden Mr. Hans Henric Lundquist and First Secretary Ms. Anna Saleem Hogberg have met today with UNDP Country Director Dr. Selva Ramachandran where they  have discussed Sweden’s Global Strategy for Cooperation  with the United Nations Development Programme (2017-2021) and explored  potential areas for future implementation in Sudan.

Sweden’s Strategy for Cooperation with UNDP outlines Sweden’s contribution to economic, democratic and human development around the world and its strong commitment to realizing the Sustainable Global Goals (SDGs). 

The meeting touched upon future plans for scaling up the existing partnership with Sweden to  enable UNDP Sudan in the areas of human rights, gender equality,  climate change, renewable  energy, good governance as well as peace building and conflict prevention.

UNDP Country Director Dr. Selva Ramachandran stated that “UNDP is pleased with this partnership which will enable us to scale our development programmes and interventions all across Sudan. We look forward to further fostering of this relationship in the different developmental aspects and in different communities across Sudan”

Sweden’s development interventions focuses on three areas, democratic governance, natural resources management and urban development.
