Sudanese Youth Advocates Join Hand to Promote the SDGs all Across SudanOct 2, 2017
The United Nations Development Programme - UNDP in Sudan, in collaboration with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) have launched on August 3rd the Global Goals Advocacy Programme directed towards promoting and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)s upheld by the United Nations in September 2015.
Through empowering a group of 20 youth- representing different parts of the country and diverse backgrounds - the programme aims to spread the word about the SDGs and raise awareness amongst local communities on the realization of 2030 Agenda.
Before joining the programme, Sudanese SDG’s advocates underwent an extensive selection process to which more than two thousand youth applied for a position with SDG’s Advocates Team Sudan.

Adopted by world leaders in September 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development aims to end all forms of poverty, inequalities and environmental degradation, while ensuring that no one is left behind.
Since the agenda came into force in 2016, national-level strategies have been drafted to help governments establish national framework for the achievements of the 17 Global Goals.
By forming a local team of advocates, UNDP is empowering youth in order to spread the word about the integrated nature of the SDGs and foster engagement of new stakeholders in implementing the SDGs.
Trained in photography, infographics and on the sustainable development framework, among other skills, the young advocates, who are participating on a voluntary basis, are being empowered to become active champions of change , striving for a better future for Sudan.
