Socio-economic mapping for River Nile and Northern states

Socio-economic opportunity mapping assessment for River Nile and Northern state was conducted during on 12th October 2010 the assessment was carried out by Central Sector Commission. The main purpose of the assessment is to identify the operational environment, institutional setup, community services, and socioeconomic situation in River Nile and Northern state which may enhance or delay implementation of reintegration activities and to use the gathered information for better planning for the reintegration services to DDR programme.

The assessment adopted different approaches for information collection and gathering such as meetings, using questionnaires and individual interviews. The assessment of River Nile and Northern State indicated that the most potential employment opportunities providers with possible job opportunities for ex-combatants in the state are in agriculture, trade, livestock and small business.

These states are connected together with good roads transportation on ground to Khartoum.
