DDR Dispatch Annual Review 2011

31 Dec 2011

This special edition aims to highlight a year of achievements in pictures: showcasing exciting new activities, groundbreaking partnerships and bold initiatives. Despite on-going conflicts and a complex political context, 2011 saw a significant push forward in bringing about a robust DDR programme. DDR and CSAC are one of the only non-humanitarian programmes currently operating in the transitional areas and with the Sudan DDR Commission’s mandate being extended to 2013 (the only CPA body to receive such an extension) are testament to the primacy and importance of this programme. DDR and CSAC, alongside the country as a whole have come a long way but there remains significant work ahead.

There are challenges that we must rise to and opportunities to seize so that we can ensure our commitments to ex-combatants and importantly to the people of Sudan in bringing about a just, peaceful, and stable climate for development for the nation as a whole. We hope you’ll enjoy looking back upon this year as much as we have. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.
