    Socioeconomic opportunity mapping assessment for the White Nile state was conducted during from 26th to 28th October 2010. The assessment was carried out by a joint team from Central Sector Commission and UNDP central the team members are 2, one from Central Sector Commission and one from UNDP central. The main purpose of the assessment is to identify the operational environment, institutional setup, community services, and socio-economic situation in White Nile state which may enhance or delay implementation of reintegration activities and to use the gathered information for better planning for the reintegration services to DDR programme.

Sudan, where pastoralists still constitute more than 20 percent of the population, is no exception. Raids and skirmishes among pastoral communities in rural Sudan have escalated over the recent years.

    More than 80 major Sudanese and international stakeholders and actors within the hibiscus value chain gathered on October 21st, 2010 at the Sudanese Chambers of Industries Association. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss key findings of a joint Hibiscus Value Chain Assessment in Western Sudan and to develop recommendations for increasing profits for the mainly female hibiscus farmers while boosting hibiscus exports.
