    Socio-economic opportunity mapping assessment was conducted is Sinnar state during the period from 27th up to 29th of April 2010.the assessment was carried out by a joint team from Central Sector Commission and UNDP central sector. The team members are 5 , three from Central Sector Commission and two from UNDP central. The main purpose of the assessment is to map out the operational environment, institutional setup, community services, and socio-economic situation in Sinnar state which may enhance or impede implementation of reintegration activities and to use the gathered information for better planning with regard to DDR programme.

    This study is commissioned under the UNDP Project “Enhancing Livelihood Opportunities and Building Social Capital for New Livelihood Strategies in Darfur”. The project seeks to support “foundational activities” for the rebuilding of livelihoods of Darfurian communities. The objectives of the study are to map the profiles and experiences of CSOs involved in livelihood issues in Darfur region, to assess the capacities of these structures and to recommend areas of interventions for capacity development of CSOs in Darfur.

    The United Nations in Sudan faces multiple challenges in aquiring and managing effectively adequate baseline information for joint planning purposes, as well as for information coordination, monitoring and evaluation, especially as regards to the early reovery and development interventions. It was therefore proposed in 2008 to establish an Information Management Working group.

The Report will highlight the general objectives of all active Grants throughout 2012, the main achievements; as well as the main challenges faced. The report will also outline both short and longer term interventions that will be implemented in 2013 and beyond.
