    The sustainable disarmament and demobilization of combatants will depend on the availability of social and economic reintegration opportunities. For this reason, it is essential to support the demobilized to earn their livelihood and participate in the economic and social life of their communities; provide them with available information, counseling and referral on reintegration opportunities; and offer assistance to groups in need of special support; and increase the capacities of receiving communities to integrate the demobilized and other returnees.

    Socio-economic opportunity mapping assessment for River Nile and Northern state was conducted during on 12th October 2010 the assessment was carried out by Central Sector Commission. The main purpose of the assessment is to identify the operational environment, institutional setup, community services, and socioeconomic situation in River Nile and Northern state which may enhance or delay implementation of reintegration activities and to use the gathered information for better planning for the reintegration services to DDR programme.

    Socio-economic opportunity mapping assessment was conducted is Sinnar state during the period from 27th up to 29th of April 2010.the assessment was carried out by a joint team from Central Sector Commission and UNDP central sector. The team members are 5 , three from Central Sector Commission and two from UNDP central. The main purpose of the assessment is to map out the operational environment, institutional setup, community services, and socio-economic situation in Sinnar state which may enhance or impede implementation of reintegration activities and to use the gathered information for better planning with regard to DDR programme.
